Our Parents conference
The best schools enjoy a healthy partnership between teachers and parents, and at GSB Juniors we know the value of having an active and involved parent body. From organizing and promoting community events to welcoming new families and teachers, our Parents Conference (PC) plays a vital role in school life.
The GSB Juniors PC initiates, develops, and strengthens strong parent-teacher and parent-school partnerships by:
Building Community
Since getting to know each other is the first step in forging a strong working relationship, the PC will hosts plenty of events where families can connect informally with teachers, with school administrators, and with each other. Other functions, such as Teacher Appreciation Days encourage the kind of day-to-day interaction that makes for a healthy sense of togetherness.
Providing resources
At a people-centered school like GSB Juniors, our most valuable resources are each other. That’s why PC volunteers are so highly valued, and we work hard to make the most out of the gifts our parents bring. Have a knack for organization? Consider volunteering for an event committee. Love to read with elementary school students? Our wealth of parent involvement is the greatest asset the PC brings to GSB Juniors. Beyond volunteering, we also raise funds from annual events that we allocate to school projects that will enhance education and strengthen community.
Facilitating communication
Good communication is key to making any relationship work. The GSB Juniors PC strives to keep clear lines of contact open between parents, administration, and teachers during the ups and downs of the school year. Monthly meetings bring parents together, keep them updated on school happenings, and give time for administrators to enlist help or address concerns. Designated parents also serve as points of contact for classroom teachers and other school personnel when they need to reach out to families with important messages or urgent requests.
Encouraging parental involvement
Knowing that students do markedly better when their parents and families are closely involved with the school experience, the GSB Juniors PC encourages parents to become an active part of their child’s education. Our outreach events seek to draw all parents in and give them a personal connection to the school, improving their understanding of GSB Juniors educational philosophy and increasing opportunities for successful parent-child learning experiences.
